In the relative ‘safe haven’ of the Bonga refugee scheme, familiar tasks such as working the fields, constructing huts, preparing grindstones, grinding or pounding grain and coffee, came back into the daily life of the refugees.  With them returned the familiar rhythms of everyday work.  The ‘soundscape’ of former village life was being recreated.
